Weekly Bulletin - September 9, 2018

Principal's Message:

Again, we would like to thank the nearly 100 grandparents who stopped by Deal on Friday afternoon. Their 6th grade grandchildren and the entire Deal community enjoyed sharing the "middle school experience" with our charming guests.

Back to School Night

As you know, the Deal Back to School Night will take place on Thursday, September 13 from 6:00 pm until 8:15 pm. The purpose of our Back to School night is to provide an opportunity for our families to be informed and engaged in what's going on in our classrooms. On Thursday evening, parents/guardians will have an opportunity to follow an abbreviated day in the life of their Deal student. During Back to School Night, you will be able to meet your child's teachers and receive an overview of the academic expectations and goals for each class.

Information Sessions Prior to Back to School Night

National History Day - If your 7th or 8th grader is interested in participating in National History Day this year, please come to the NHD Information Session from 5:30 pm until 6:00 pm in the cafeteria.

Deal Musicals - This year, we will have a 6th grade musical, a 7th grade musical, and an 8th grade musical! Interested parents/guardians are invited to attend an information session from 5:30 pm until 6:00 pm in the auditorium.

Back to School Night Schedule

Screen Shot 2018-09-10 at 9.33.24 PM.png

Students will bring a copy of their schedule home on Monday. Please bring the schedule (hard or soft copy) with you to Back to School Night. Parents/guardians should report to first period by 6:05 pm.

Teachers will not be available for individual conferences during Back to School Night. If you are interested in speaking with a teacher, please send an email to that teacher to schedule a conference.

Jane D. Hull writes, "At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child's success is the positive involvement of parents."
We are looking forward to seeing you on Thursday evening. Onward and Upward!

Over the past several months, the Office of School Security has been working to improve our campus security through the installation of electronic locks at Deal. The project has just completed and we will begin a new visitor screening process starting Monday, September 10, 2018. All visitors to Deal Middle School are expected to enter through the LEFT door at the main entrance on Fort Drive NW. Please click here to request entry.
