International Trips

Alice Deal 8th grade students have the option to participate in a Deal-sponsored trip abroad. This trip is organized in partnership with proven, education-oriented service that manages student trips across the world. The cost of the trips is funded by the family of the student. Through the generous support of the Deal community, scholarships are available for students who demonstrate need, have exemplary academic records, have been involved in the World Language program since arriving at Deal, and craft an essay in support of their participation. These trips are planned and chaperoned by Deal faculty and administrators

In 2019, students will travel to Costa Rica, France, China, and Guatemala. The Guatemala trip is reserved for 8th graders enrolled in the Spanish Humanities course. These trips allow students to apply three years of language instruction and broaden their understanding of their place in the world. In past years, students have also traveled to Spain, Mexico, and Peru. Destination decisions are made each spring. Students interested in traveling as part of their language study are encouraged to speak with their world language teacher to get more information.

James Albright World Language Trip Scholarship Fund

The James Albright World Language Trip Scholarship Fund, named for our former Principal, provides scholarships to Deal students who want to travel abroad as part of our 8th grade International World Language Travel program. We need your help to give other Deal students the chance to participate in these life-changing trips. Our goal is to have the resources so that every Deal student who is eligible to travel can go on a trip. Please read the attached letter from Mr. Rottman, our 8th Grade Assistant Principal, explaining what these trips mean for his students and the impact your generous support has made over the past years.

We hope you will consider a donation to the Albright Fund. You can make a donation here or drop off/mail a check to the ADCA at 3815 Fort Drive NW, Washington DC 20016. Donations of all sizes are welcome and greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support for this fund and for all the amazing things you have given to our school, our staff and our students.
