IB Learner Profile

We had a great time celebrating our December IB Students of the month this week during lunches.  In January, we will be highlighting students who embody the LP character trait: Reflective.  Reflective students thoughtfully consider the world and our own ideas and experience. They work to understand their strengths and weaknesses in order to support their learning and personal development.

Save the Date!  Our 8th grade students work hard every year on their IB Capstone Project: The Community Project.  In this student-centered project, students work to research needs within their community and then take action to positively address those needs.  For students looking to collect donations for various organizations, the Deal community is invited to participate in our annual Community Project Fair.  Students will have booths set up in the front hallway of Deal to collect the items they are looking for.  Please come out to support our 8th graders on 1/24 from 4:30-6:30 (and then go to International Night)!  See below for more details.  Note to 8th grade students: see your advisor or Civics teacher to sign up if you have not already.

8th Grade Community Project

Students are hard at work on their community projects!  Last week, student should have solidified their goal for their project.  This week, student will work on their community project in Civics (I and S) classes.  During this lesson, student will create an action plan to make sure they complete the project on time.  Students should then be ready to take action anytime until February 17th.  Please check in with your student-ask what they are doing, what they are interested in and what assistance they may need!  Do not hesitate to reach out to your students advisor with questions.
