Washington Arlington Speech and Debate League

This weekend the debate team participated in the final Washington Arlington speech and Debate league regular season tournament.  With over 1200 students from 71 DMV schools Deal students showed that they were the cream of the crop.

In the Lincoln Douglas Debate division, the following students qualified for the metro final tournament in their respective divisions:

Junior Varsity

  • Charlotte Ray--Undefeated record and placed 2nd

Middle School  

  • Zander Brodsky--Undefeated record, 1st place

  • Isabel Pershing--3-1 record, 2nd place

  • Iris Dodson-Green, 3-1 record, 4th place

  • Leila Lipton, 3-1 record, 5th place.

In Public Forum debate the team of Hannah Lopez and Bas Bastion were undefeated in the preliminary rounds and finished in 7th place in the high school junior varsity division.

In Student Congress, Agnes Cooling finished in 3rd place in her chamber.
