Deal Debate

Yesterday,  the debate team attended the last regular season Washington-Arlington Forensic League tournament at Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax, VA.  With 450 high school students representing 45 high schools, once again, Deal was the only middle school in attendance.  The following students not only placed in their respective divisions, but also qualified for the league’s metro-final national qualifier:

Varsity Policy Debate

  • Josie Casper and Venya Gulati—3rd Place

Junior Varsity Policy Debate

  • Ida Laitin and Anna Morgan—2nd Place 

  • Rory Felton and Emma Elton-Melzi—8th Place

Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate

  • Lila Noti

Those students who also had an outstanding tournament by finishing with a winning record include:

  • Annie Stillerman—JV Lincoln-Douglas debate

  • Eliana Rosenberg—Novice Lincoln-Douglas debate

  • Kais Syed—Novice Lincoln-Douglas debate

Congratulations!  Next up is the final regular season Student Congress tournament this coming weekend!
