Enrollment Begins on March 27
Our goal is to have all Deal families re-enroll as soon as possible. As you know, EVERYONE is required to re-enroll each year. To re-enroll in a DCPS school, all families must submit a completed enrollment packet either in-person or via online enrollment through ASPEN to the school and proof of all eligibility prerequisites, which includes sufficient proof of DC residency based on OSSE requirements.
To complete online enrollment, returning families must use the email address associated with their existing ASPEN Parent Portal account. New families can create an account using a personal email address. If a family has logged into the platform, but is unable to view all their students, please reach out to enroll@k12.dc.gov.
Moving Out-of-Boundary after Enrolling
Where a PK-12 student has been attending an in-boundary school and then moves out-of-boundary while remaining in the District of Columbia, the student has the right to attend and may enroll in their new in-boundary school. All families are required to notify the school of any change of residence within three (3) school days of such change. After the terminal grade, the student has the right to attend the in-boundary school assigned for their next grade based on their home address and can apply to schools outside of the boundary via the My School DC lottery. The student will lose their right to attend their old in-boundary feeder school and will need to apply through the My School DC lottery as an out-of-boundary student to attend that school.
The SY26-27 DCPS School Feeder Patterns are active for students who graduate from a terminal grade in SY25- 26 and enroll at the next school in a feeder pattern in SY26-27. Feeder pattern rights allow students who complete the terminal grade in a school the right to enroll in the designated geographic or programmatic feeder school entry grade. Geographic feeder pattern rights do not extend to students who enroll as in-boundary students and then move out of the boundary or to students who have withdrawn from an out-of-boundary feeder pattern at any point. Feeder rights are subject to change based on student assignment phase-in policies and grandfathering clauses.
