IB MYP Corner

Alice Deal Middle School is an International Baccalaureate Middle Years school.  As an IB MYP school, Deal not only puts an emphasis on the academics but on developing students as well rounded individuals prepared to enter the world around them and make a positive impact.  

One way that IB MYP schools work to achieve that goal is through the Learner Profile traits.  These 10 traits are taught and focused on with all students.  Here at Deal, we teach these learner profile traits in a number of ways: Advisory lessons, team celebrations, connections to content, and our school wide student of the month.  Each month, we focus on ONE learner profile trait.  

For September, we will be focusing on the trait: Risk-Taker.  A RISK-TAKER approaches uncertainty with forethought and determination; we work independently and cooperatively to explore new ideas and innovate strategies.  Risk-takers are resourceful and resilient in the face of challenges and change.  We look forward to working on growing our Risk-Takers this month!
