IB Assessments, Part 2
In an IBMYP school, teachers use specific rubrics to give feedback to students. For students to internalize feedback and GROW in their skills, it is important that those supporting students understand how to read a rubric. Each rubric in an IB MYP school is on a scale of 0-8. Students score a numerical achievement level based on the skills they show in the assessment. It is important to remember it is NOT their score out of 8. Each achievement level stands independent. Each rubric has 5 "bands" or levels: 0, 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8. Each achievement level has bullet points or "strands" that each student can do if they get that achievement level. To move up the rubric and receive a better score, student need to improve skills on the strands. Example of the 7-8 achievement levels in one subject with strands (numeric) specifying the skills a student at this level can do:
Scores are then converted to a score out of 100 for ASPEN purposes. The full Alice Deal Assessment policy can be found HERE on the Deal website
