JROTC Class

Last Thursday, we had a visit from the Jackson-Reed High School JROTC teacher and students during lunch. Deal offers an optional JROTC program for a limited number of interested 8th grade students as a replacement for Advisory. If your student is interested in this program, please reach out to Sergeant First Class LaKeshia Sanders at LaKeshia.Sanders@k12.dc.gov.

JROTC is a fun and interactive program that teaches the fundamentals of leadership, communication, teamwork, discipline, and more. Sponsored by Jackson-Reed High School, the 8th Grade LET 1 Program fosters an environment that is conducive for learning by allowing students to not only be taught the curriculum but engage with each other through activities that prompt students to exercise teamwork and determination, while taking individual onus of their learning for practical application in real-world situations. Students will also learn the basics of Drill and Ceremony, as well as other skills such as anger and stress management, money management, goal setting, and physical fitness.
