National Junior Honor Society
We invite all 7th and 8th graders who are interested in joining the National Junior Honor Society to join through the Microsoft Teams course through their DCPS account. Codes to join the Microsoft Teams course are included in this information sheet. All the links to upload necessary forms are included in the NJHS Microsoft Teams course in assignments.
The following are the requirements to be accepted into NJHS:
1. Community Service: Upload all hours in a single assignment until 15 hours are reached, then submit. Due April 2,2027 @11:59 pm. Assignments will Close and Lock – Plan ahead.
Paper Copies will NOT be accepted.
Emailed Copies will NOT be accepted.
Summer (2026) hours ARE accepted.
8th Grade Service Projects DO NOT count towards Community Service hours for NJHS.
2. Extracurricular Activity: One Deal club or sport (one minimum). Verify with Extracurricular Image/picture upload on the Reflection form assignment located in Teams (please upload the photo so we can also include it in the slide presentation for the NJHS ceremony). Due April 2, 2027 at 11:59 pm. Assignments will close and Lock – Plan ahead.
3. Scholarship: Upload Terms 3 report card in Teams Assignment.
a. A/B final grade in terms 1-3 for all grade level classes
b. C or higher in Courses that receive high school credit.
4. Behavior: Must have no suspensions of any type (anyone with a suspension is not eligible for NJHS)
Acceptance will be notified through the NJHS Teams course. Once accepted, you will be notified via NJHS Teams regarding an in-school Call to Order meeting to practice the NJHS ceremony. Date is TBA.
Also, once accepted, to properly pronounce names, you are requested to add a phonetic pronunciation of first and last name in the Teams assignments.

Ms. Lienemann is also easily accessible for the students during 7th grade morning entry each morning if students need to ask a question or schedule a time to meet. Students are encouraged to self-advocate and ask questions. Eighth grade students are aware of her location from last school year. Also, her room location has changed. She is now located in the North building, room N2040.

This is for any NEW 8th grade student who would like to be inducted. Previous members are currently enrolled.

Enrollment is ongoing but please be mindful of due dates. Again, Community Service and Extracurricular Assignments links are in the NJHS Teams Course and will be closed and locked on April 2. This is non-negotiable and there will be no exceptions.
