Speech and Debate

This weekend, the speech and debate team competed at George Mason University, which hosted over 800 students and 160 adult judges.  The following Deal students had outstanding results:

In the high school junior varsity division, the team of Sam Fleischer and Evelyn O’Flaherty-Horr finished with a 3-1 record and earned one qualifying leg for the DC Metro-final tournament. 

In the middle school division, the Rose Wilkins and Julia Beilter Leoni also finished with a 3-1 record and are now eligible for the DC Metro final tournament. 

Notably, among the 170 students in the middle school division, Jake Zelin was recognized as one of the top speakers, placing 14th.
