Speech and Debate

This weekend, the Speech and Debate team attended the National Catholic Forensic League national tournament, held for the first time ever and done virtually.  The tournament hosted students from 42 middle schools from across the United States competing in speech and debate events. Congratulations to all the Deal students who attended their first national-level tournament of the year and demonstrated excellence. The following students advanced to the elimination rounds and eventually placed in their respective events.

Lincoln-Douglas Debate

  • Co-National Champions: Jacob Sloan and Charlotte Ray earned these honors by winning their semi-final rounds and closing out the final round.

  • ​Quarter Finalist: Sadie Meixner (1st seed out of prelims)

  • ​Quarter finalist: Evelyn O'Flaherty-Horr (7th seed out of prelims)

Public Forum Debate

  • ​Quarter Finalist:  Malda Dilargachew and Sydney Gonzalez Feria (9th seed out of prelims)

  • ​**Octo finalists:  Rose Wilkins and Julia Beitler Leoni (12th seed out of prelims)
