OSSE is excited to open nominations for Excellent Educators in DC! As parents and family members, you see firsthand which teachers, principals, and school staff have a powerful impact on students and families.
We would love to hear about educators who have made a difference in your school community. Whether you are uplifting a teacher for Teacher of the Year* or are shining a spotlight on a principal or other educator by nominating them for the DC Educator Talent Pool, we value your insight into educators who should be recognized. Superintendent’s Advisory Councils
Applications for the SY26-27 Superintendent’s Advisory Councils are now open! We are looking for councils to represent a wide variety of perspectives, including those of families and PTO leaders. Members of the Superintendent’s Advisory Councils have the opportunity to share their unique perspectives, inform decision-making and help shape policies that directly impact their schools. The Superintendent’s Advisory Council includes our Family, Teacher, and School Leader Councils, as well as our newly launched Student Advisory Council.
We would especially appreciate your help sharing the Student Advisory Council opportunity with rising 7th through 12th grade students. Throughout the year, student members will provide input on OSSE projects and policy initiatives, ensuring their voices are included early and meaningfully. We aim to have at least two students from schools in each ward, and your outreach can help us get there.
