ADCA Board and LSAT Parent Reps
Congratulations to our newly elected ADCA board member and elected LSAT parent representatives. We had OUTSTANDING candidates for the LSAT - many thanks to the Deal community for stepping up! We are also pleased to announce this year's ADCA Sports Liaison.
Katie Boehret, Co-President
Katie Boehret joins ADCA just as her kids — Liam and Harrison Sheives — come together again in the same school for eighth and sixth grade, respectively. She and her family moved to Chevy Chase, DC, in 2021 after 19 years on Capitol Hill, where Katie served terms on her DCPS's executive board first as communications chair and, later, as secretary. She currently serves as communications chair for Lafayette Elementary School's Home and School Association (HSA). As a recovering journalist and internal comms leader, Katie will prioritize clear, concise communication with the Deal community. She enjoys playing tennis, cheering for her kids in a variety of activities, and listening to podcasts (IMO a favorite) while walking her dog, Nala.
Randy Huggins, Co-Treasurer
Randy Huggins was co-treasurer from 2023-2025 when his son Ben attended Deal, and he is returning now that his daughter, who wishes to remain anonymous (!), is a student here. He is also the co-treasurer of the Jackson-Reed rowing club. Randy's hobbies include movies, personal finance, music (old-school hip-hop, '80s pop, and one-hit wonders), and following the Ravens and Orioles. He lives in Chevy Chase, DC, with his kids and his wife, Madame/Señora Patricia Balestra, who teaches French and Spanish at Deal.
Erin Mohebbi, Secretary
A native of New Jersey, Erin Mohebbi is a longtime DC resident and DCPS parent with a rising seventh grader at Deal. She has spent more than 20 years working on health and development projects around the world. Erin enjoys traveling, music, learning new languages, swimming, and spending time outdoors. She lives in Friendship Heights with her husband, son, and cat, Licorice. A former four-time Janney Room Parent and current volunteer with several organizations, including her alma mater, Smith College, Erin is excited to join the ACDA Board as Secretary beginning in SY26–27.
Emma Basch, VP Communications
Emma Basch is a parent of a rising 8th-grader and a rising 5th grader. After serving in many volunteer roles at her kids' elementary school, she is excited to join the ADCA. Emma is a proud native Washingtonian and has been back in the DC area for 10 years. As a psychologist and small business owner, she will prioritize communication and collaboration in her role with ADCA and the Deal community. When not driving her kids all over the DMV for activities, you can find her with a good book or on a run in the park.
Emma can be reached HERE if you have submissions for the ADCA newsletter roundup.
Greg Chaney, Returning Co-President
Meredith Brown McNamara, Returning Co-Treasurer
Jason Loughnane, ADCA Sports Liaison
Jason Loughnane (pronounced LOCK-nain) is a father of two boys; Tyler is a rising 6th grader at Deal, and Theo will begin 3rd grade at Janney in Fall 2026. Jason has coached Capitol Hill Little League for five years and coached for Capitol Hill Lacrosse for two years. He played lacrosse at Duke and for his New Jersey high school, and currently plays in a slow-pitch softball league on the National Mall. Jason and his wife, Carolyn Nash, are recent arrivals to Northwest DC, having relocated from Capitol Hill, where they've lived since 2021. They met as students at Johns Hopkins SAIS and are proud supporters of the University, where Jason teaches an adjunct course on impact investing.
Katie Bous, LSAT Parent Representative
Katie Bous is the mom of a rising Deal 7th grader (Oliver) and a 9th grader Deal alum. I volunteered on the PTO and led events at the international school our kids attended in Cairo, Egypt, where we lived for 2 years before returning to DC last year. Also, my husband and I previously helped coach track at Murch ES. In my professional life, I spent many years leading education policy for Oxfam International, advocating for global policies to support strong public education systems. I believe that public education can and should be high-quality, equitable, and responsive to the needs of students and families. Through the LSAT role, I hope to serve our school community, ensure thoughtful and safe use of screens in the classroom, and help provide space for families to share input and ideas to continue to make our school a great place to learn!
Deena Fox, LSAT Parent Representative
Deena Fox is the parent of a rising 8th grader and a rising 6th grader at Deal. Previously, I served on the Board of Sela Public Charter School for ten years, including five years as board chair. In that role, I regularly reviewed school data and supported school decision-making around academic achievement, budget, enrollment, and policy. As a civil rights lawyer and alum of the DOJ's Civil Rights Division, I worked on systemic matters related to special education and juvenile justice. I live with my husband, Andrew, and children Boaz and Merav in Mount Pleasant, having called DC home since 2008. After two wonderful years at Deal, and with three more ahead, I am interested in supporting the continuing strength of the Deal community.
